Paintings

This gallery features my painted work (obviously!). Most recent years are nearer the top, while earlier ones are further down.

2008

Ozzy Kong - Third in my unintentional video game character/rock star crossover series. This time, Donkey Kong threatens to bite the head off a Banana Bird (from DKCountry3), in parody of Ozzy Osbourne. Gouache with inked outlines. DK and the Banana Bird are © Nintendo.

Down, girl! - This was done for a contest run by online writer, Megan O'Shea. This painting depicts two of her characters, Xenophon, a resurrected demon, and Terida, the woman who becomes his slave. I can't really say much else without commenting on how I draw humans. Gouache with inked outlines. Xen and Terida are © Megan O'Shea.

2007

Onward to Adventure... - As a cool breeze blows through the air, the hero and his steed ponder their next challenge. Yet more Zelda fanart, this time focusing on the beautiful locations in Twilight Princess. Watercolour. Link and Epona are © Nintendo.

Frog Vs. Dragon - A random, fairytale-inspired piece. I just wanted to do something with a frog prince in it. Watercolour with inked outlines.

Gryphs in Love - This was done for my parents' Silver Wedding Anniversary. Gouache with inked outlines.

Mario and Yoshi - The classic Nintendo characters are ready and raring to go. However, it looks like either Yoshi needs to go on a diet, or Mario needs a Super Mushroom! Gouache with inked outlines. Mario and Yoshi are © Nintendo.

2006

Gleeok - The three-headed dragon from the original Legend of Zelda game. This version of Gleeok is based on his appearance in the cartoon series. It seems I also succumbed to the idea that dragons have to stick their tongues out when their mouths are open! Gouache with inked outlines. Gleeok is © Nintendo.

Aquamentus - Another dragon from the first Legend of Zelda, and again based on his cartoon appearance. I like this version of Aquamentus, it makes him look more like a unicorn (which is how he was originally described in the game). Gouache with inked outlines. Aquamentus is © Nintendo.

Furlis - My entry for the 2006 'Create a Creature' contest held at the North Castle forums. This furry, lizard-like creature spawned from the fairy dragon I had initially drawn out for my entry. Watercolour.

'I've got my eye on you!' - A quick portrait of FireHawk I came up with. The line underneath it just felt right for the image. Gouache with inked outlines.

'They call him the Diamond Dog' - One of my favourite album covers - David Bowie's Diamond Dogs - gets the Zelda treatment! I thought Link's transformation in Twilight Princess would be interesting to sneak into it, and the results were surprisingly good, even if the short wolf legs look a little odd. Watercolour. Link is © Nintendo.

Athena's Little Owl - A cute cartoon-style picture of the Little Owl, symbol of the Greek Goddess Athena. Gouache with inked outlines.

Star Fox Rhapsody - Inspired by my previous Star Fox portraits, I decided to do a 'Bohemian Rhapsody' parody with the gang. I only wish the shading was more prominent, though. Watercolour. Star Fox is © Nintendo.

2005

Enzar - The gryphon character from Juliet and Kirsty Singleton's Legend of Zelda fanfics, and one my earliest attempts at using watercolours along with inked outlines. I tried to create a dark mood here, using deep browns, blues, and blacks. Enzar is © the Singleton Sisters.

Sal - Another character from the Singleton Sisters' fanfics. I spent quite some time working on her scales. Watercolour with inked outlines. Sal is © the Singleton Sisters.
